CATCOS

Decisions concerning strategies on global climate change must be founded on high-quality and long-term information. However, developing and emerging countries often lack the basis to systematically gather climate-relevant data. The project CATCOS (Capacity Building and Twinning for Climate Observing Systems) contributed to filling gaps in the global climate observing system. Moreover, the project enhanced regional cooperation and raised awareness about the importance of systematic climate monitoring at the local, regional and global scales.
