Current weather

Sunshine is registered as soon as the difference between direct and diffuse radiation onto a surface, which is perpendicular to the radiation direction, reaches a threshold of 200 W/m2. At the following stations the sunshine duration is calculated from global radiation measurements instead of  direct measurements (lesser accuracy): Disentis/Sedrun, Evolène / Villa, Güttingen, S. Bernadino, Rünenberg and Wynau. The measured and calculated values shown are only partly checked and may include gaps.

* These boundary layer stations are situated on transmission towers (Bantiger 155 m, St. Chrischona 232 m, Uetliberg 162 m above ground).

The general map shows a reference measured value for each region. The values displayed represent the number of minutes of sunshine during the last 10 minutes. Current values are updated every 10 minutes. If you click on a region you will see an enlarged image with further measuring stations.

Diagrams
The number of minutes of sunshine in an hour is shown. The diagram is updated once every hour and shows the values for the previous days and today. If you click on the "All Switzerland" link you go back to the general map and if you click on "Region" you go back to the region you were looking at.

If you are interested in further parameters, you can click on the relevant flag in the top toolbar. You will then go straight to the view mode you have selected at that time.

The yellow bars show the daily  sunshine duration in hours and the red line shows the maximum possible sunshine duration per day.
